MIDTOWN – More than a thousand jobs were there for the taking at a career fair hosted Monday at Harris-Stowe University, 3026 Laclede Avenue. The event, which has been taking place every year for more than a decade, is hosted by Rep. William Lacy Clay, a Democrat representing Missouri’s 1st District.
From local construction firms to big name tech giants such as Amazon, companies faced with an extremely competitive job market were putting their best foot forward in hopes of finding solid candidates.
“St. Louis is a candidate-rich market, and there are so many people out here looking for work,” Amazon’s Denise Burcey said. “So to have Congressman Lacy Clay host an event like this every year to bring so many employers together and so many people looking for jobs in one place is definitely beneficial.”
AT&T, Boeing, Entercom Radio, and Express Scripts were among the companies on hand.
“I think it really helps local economies,” job seeker Isaac Warren said, “because it’s like an open area to see what the community has to offer.”
